Before the arrival of Europeans New Caledonia’s biggest terrestrial mammal was the flying fox (a big bat). In late 1800s deers were introduced on the island and at some point 4 females and 8 males were reliesed as hunting game. Just a few years later deers became a pest in New Caledonia. To this day the government pays a reward for stags’ horns and females’ jawbones. Deer’s meat is very popular in New Caledonia, especially “saucisson” (French salami).
This is an example of the awesome things that the environment gives to us…Let’s take care of it:)
someday ill go to this place…
One of my French teachers back in the day, Madame Ferrari (or as we used to call her ‘Fezza’) told us about the indigenous Kanak people of New Caledonia. Apparently as indigenous people they have certain workplace rights that allow them to retain jobs even when breaching company policies. Anyhow, she was staying at a resort in New Caledonia, sipping daiquiris by the pool and lounging luxuriously amidst cool aquamarine waters and tropical palm trees at sunset, when a drunk Kanak came over and decided to serenade her. Out of tune and extraordinarily loud, the Kanak stumbled over to her deckchair and ultimately fell upon her before ejecting the contents of his lunch onto the formerly glistening white tiles of the pool area surrounds. True story.
This is just a crazy awesome photo!!!!!

The Romans came to Baden Baden roughly 2,000 years ago for “salus per aqua,” from whence comes the word “spa.” This “healing by water” would rejuvenate their skin, relieve their internal ailments and release them from the stress of managing their empire. As you stroll the green byways of this town-in-a-forest, you should lift a glass of Riesling to those ancient Roman pleasure seekers who also brought the vine here…read more

O segundo gole de Baden baden só não é melhor que o primeiro por um motivo: você não tem mais aquela sensação de que nunca experimentou nada igual.
